Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is on Thomas Tuchel’s shortlist for the striker position. The German coach has told his management that Aubameyang is the perfect striker for the team. Chelsea have made contacts with Aubameyang for a potential move to London back. The striker is well aware of the city, having played for Arsenal for so long. But his situation at Arsenal was even worse than it looked. This led to Aubameyang moving to Barcelona on a free transfer.
Since then, It has been all uphill for Aubameyang. The striker has felt at home in Barcelona and was the second top scorer, even though he arrived in January only. Now being 31, Pierre feels that his physical condition is too good to put to waste and thus signed for Barcelona. Barcelona under Xavi have upped their dedication, style of play, and their mentality. Xavi has publicly admitted how he feels Aubameyang is a vital part of his plans and his squad.
This transfer news did not go well with the Spanish coach who talked to the striker immediately after this. Xavi has once again made Aubameyang believe that he is too important for Barcelona. He has denied any transfer for Pierre under any circumstances. Aubameyang will be fighting with Lewandowski for the starter position. Although Lewy will be the obvious choice, Aubameyang has said that he will do all he can to make the coach believe in him.
Chelsea’s 2022/23 transfer window
Chelsea, on the other hand, have had difficulties in this window. They have lost out to all their first-choice signings and had to resort to backup options they had. Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona was their preferred choice for the Right-wing but he ended up renewing at Barcelona. Jules Kounde was hours away from signing for Chelsea until a phone call from Xavi changed everything. Leeds had agreed on a fee for Raphinha to Chelsea but the Brazilian made it clear he only wanted Barcelona.
On the positive side, Chelsea have got Koulibaly and Sterling this year. They are also targeting Frenkie De Jong from Barcelona. Aubameyang is also a potential option at Striker, who is loved by Thomas Tuchel due to his time at Dortmund. It remains to be seen how Chelsea will be ending this transfer window. Will it be on a positive note or once again will they be left in the mud?
