Bayern Munich are finally able to tie down their midfield star Leon Goretzka to a long term contract. The new contract will see the German remain with the Bundesliga champions till 2026.

The Rekordmeister have been concerned for the past couple of months over the contract situation of many of their players. One of the main among them for Bayern was Goretzka, who was getting interested from the likes of Manchester United.

However, the club was finally able to make a breakthrough in their negotiations as Goretzka pens down a new deal with Bayern. Earlier this season was also able to extend the contract of fellow midfielder Joshua Kimmich and in effect have helped secure the future of their midfield.

GORETZKA FINALLY RENEWS WITH BAYERN

For Goretzka, the relationship between him and the club has become tense in the last few months. It was reported that the player was not happy with the offer he got on his table and was trying to run down his contract that ended in 2022.

This made Bayern weary, as the club has lost David Alaba already on a free transfer this season. Not to make the same mistake again, the club hierarchy has been in talks with Goretzka over an extension. The matter was made difficult with the interest from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Finally, Bayern was able to convince the 26-year-old to extend his stay at Bavaria till 2026. Goretzka has won multiple trophies with Bayern since joining from Schalke on a free transfer in 2018. He was a pivotal part of the Bayern midfield that won the treble in 2019/20 and is a mainstay for the German national team as well.
