Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund play out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund

Bundesliga witnessed an entertaining encounter between two of its best teams in the Der Klassiker. Bayern Munich played against their arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund in an enthralling match at Signal Iduna Park. The Bavarians opened the scoring with a fine goal from Leon Goretzka.

The lead was extended by Leroy Sane after an assist from Jamal Musiala. Borussia Dortmund seemed down and out at this stage of the game. However, a late surge through the game saw the home team snatch away a point from the champions.

The home team pulled one back through Yousssoufa Moukoko and equalized in the dying minutes through Anthony Modeste. The defending champions were left stunned by the comeback and could not keep their nerve in the final minutes. The match ended in a draw despite Bayern Munich enjoying a comfortable lead for a long period of time in the match.

The draw does a favor to the Bundesliga as a whole

Bayern Munich failed to win against Borussia Dortmund in this early season encounter. Both clubs failed to collect the three points which is good for the competition in the league. Bayern Munich have powered through competition over the years as they have won 10 league titles in a row. However, this season the Bavarians have struggled in some games to win despite dominating the matches.

The impact and importance of Robert Lewandowski is evident in this Bayern Munich setup. The Polish international left for Barcelona this summer and the German club have missed him clearly. Sadio Mane, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman are not scoring at the rate which the marksman did.

The club has struggled to convert chances and has lost points due to the same. Julian Nagelsmann will want to work on this aspect of his team as the games will come thick and fast. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have a real opportunity to challenge for the Bundesliga this season as they look evenly matched with their archrivals after a long time. The club will hope to build on the positive start and potentially challenge for the title!!
