Bayern Munich on the lookout for Victor Osimhen

Real Madrid

There has been speculation that Bayern Munich is showing interest in signing Victor Osimhen from SSC Napoli during the upcoming summer transfer window. However, Thomas Tuchel, the newly appointed Bayern manager, has not given his full thoughts on the matter. But it is evident that he is a great admirer of the Nigerian striker. Since Tuchel’s arrival, the Bayern front office seems to have changed their stance on signing a striker this summer. Previously, they were content with the current squad and had no intention of signing one. Even after losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer.

Victor Osimhen is a highly sought-after player across Europe. Also, Bayern Munich being just one of the clubs eager to sign him. The Nigerian striker has had an impressive season with SSC Napoli, scoring 25 goals and providing 5 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. His performances played a key role in Napoli’s bid to win their first Scudetto since the 1989/90 season. Osimhen’s price tag is around €100m(expectations), as he is under contract with Napoli until June 2025.

Will Bayern go all the way for Victor Osimhen?

Despite the high price tag, the club is reportedly considering putting together a plan to sign the Nigerian striker. Talks are currently undergoing with Osimhen’s representatives. Meanwhile, he is said to be a “hot topic” at the club. Bayern would be willing to work on a way to pay the hefty transfer fee, which would likely exceed their current record transfer fee. Possibly through a structured installment plan with Napoli, though negotiations will be challenging given the player’s high demand.

Bayern Munich could be willing to break their transfer record to sign Victor Osimhen, despite his price tag of €100.00m. While Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has exceeded expectations this season, he is not a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Additionally, Bayern may look to cut their losses with Sadio Mane this summer.
