Bayern Munich Show Interest in Signing Inter Milan’s Key Defender

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Bayern Munich has made enquires for defenders and one of the names on that list is Bastoni. They are interested in signing a young player that can make an impact for a long time.

Bayern has shown the appreciation the youngster deserves and has shown interest in bringing the 21-year-old to Germany. They are looking for long-term replacements as David Alaba is set to leave at the end of the season and Niklas Sule’s future remains unsure.

Bayern Munich is currently leading the Bundesliga table. But RB Leipzig are not far behind as they are only 4 points behind the Champions. They will be facing Lazio in the second leg of the Champions League.

Inter Milan are the table toppers in Serie-A. They have a comfortable lead of 9 points from their Milan neighbors who sit 2nd at 56 points. Inter was knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage itself finishing last.

Will Alessandro Bastoni leave Inter Milan for Bayern?

Alessandro Bastoni made his debut in the Serie A for Atalanta in 2016. He was rewarded for his performances as Inter Milan completed his signing for €31 million when he was just 18-years-old.

After 2 loan spells with Atalanta and Parma, he made his Inter Milan debut in 2019. The last season he made 25 appearances, with this year looking better. He has earned his playtime as he has made 23 appearances in the 27 matches played so far.

The Bavarians have already completed the signing of one young defender, Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig. Although they are still searching for another defender to partner him. Kalidou Koulibaly was looking like the potential player, but Napoli’s asking price made Bayern wash hands of the deal.

It looks unsure whether Inter will be looking to sell the player. Bastoni’s contract comes to an end in 2023 and his agents are in advanced talks for a contract renewal which the Nerazurri will happily look into. But the financial dilemma that the pandemic has put the club in will make them have second thoughts.

Every club has endured loss, and Inter will also want to balance the books. If Bayern was to make an official bid, a sum of €45 million is the minimum they will be expecting. And if the deal goes through, it will be a temporary relief for the club.
