Bayern Munich to let Mane and Cancelo leave this summer

Italian goalkeeper

According to a report, both Sadio Mane and Joao Cancelo are to depart from Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Mane joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool last summer in a transfer deal worth €32 million (£27.8 million). He had a successful six-year spell at Liverpool, winning numerous trophies during his time with the club.

Cancelo joined Bayern Munich on a temporary deal. He has an option to make his move permanent for a fee of €70 million (£60.9 million). However, it appears that the price tag is too high for Thomas Tuchel’s team. As a result, Bayern decided that neither Mane nor Cancelo have a long-term future at the club. Consequently, both players are to leave the club swiftly during the upcoming summer transfer window.

What is Bayern Munich planning with Mane and Cancelo?

Following Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, there were reports of an alleged incident involving Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane. It was reported that Mane punched Sane in the face, resulting in a suspension and fine for the Senegalese forward by the German champions.

Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo joined Bayern Munich after finding himself lower in the pecking order at Manchester City. But he denied any rift between himself and Pep Guardiola, the head coach at City. Cancelo is still under contract with Manchester City for another four seasons. This means Bayern would need to negotiate a permanent deal if they wish to keep him beyond his loan spell.
