BAYERN MUNICH

Bayern Munich vs PSG : UCL Preview and Line-ups

The behemoth fixture of the Champions League is nigh! In the rematch of the previous year’s final, Bayern Munich will be hosting PSG at the Allianz Stadium for the first-leg fixture of the quarter-finals. We can expect everything in this match as one team will be defending their pride while the other will be hell bend on getting their revenge.

Last time around, Bayern grabbed a narrow win and clean-swept every silverware available that season. The only goal in the final of the Champions League match was scored by Kingsley Coman, who once used to play for the French Champions.

PSG were gutted by the result as they had waited a long time and spent a huge amount of money to finally grab the prestigious trophy. However, they will have to try again. It was also only the 2nd time in the club’s history that they had reached the finals.

Bayern Munich vs PSG Preview:

Bayern’s form is not one to be messed with. In the Bundesliga, they are on the path to their 9th consecutive League title. After defeating RB Leipzig in the top of the table clash, they have put a comfortable gap of 7 points between them.

Since the start of last season, they have not lost a single fixture in the Champions League. In the group stages, they comfortably topped the table despite having Atletico Madrid in it. They faced Lazio in the Round of 16 which they dominated as expected. They progressed to the quarter-finals after defeating them 6-2 on aggregate.

PSG on the other hand are having a mixed season. Their victory over Barcelona was impressive but their Ligue 1 form has been disappointing. The French League remains the only competition across Europe that is having a 4-way battle.

PSG were level on points with Lille but their top-of-the-table clash saw the latter steal all 3-points. With Lille 3 points clear PSG, Monaco and Lyon are behind with a point separating each one of them.

In the Champions League, they were on the verge of an early exit. But after Manchester United bottled their lead they progressed to the next stage. In the Round of 16, they faced Barcelona in another long-overdue rematch which they won 5-2.

Bayern Munich vs PSG Team News:

Having handed a big blow last week, they are dealt with another one yet again. Their main striker, Robert Lewandowski was ruled out for a month after sustaining a knee injury while on international duty. There was a slight ray of hope for a quick recovery, but it has been ruled out and he will definitely miss the 2nd-leg too.

Adding more salt to the wound, it was announced yesterday that Serge Gnabry has tested positive for coronavirus. Bayern will be troubled and doubt might arise in their chance of a win. Along with that, Douglas Costa and Corentin Tolisso are sidelined and will be unavailable for the fixture.

However, the visitors are in a similar dilemma. They will be without 4 players. Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenziare are 2 of the players who have contracted the coronavirus. Leandro Paredes has been suspended after accumulating many cards and Danilo Pereira is a doubt as he has got issues with his calf muscles.

Although it will be Marco Verrati’s absence is the one that will hurt them the most. The Italian midfielder’s presence has seen PSG succeed the most. The 2 losses they had in the group fixture were when the player was absent. He was also out injured in Saturday’s loss against Lille.

Predicted Line-ups and Scoreline:

Bayern Munich’s predicted Line-Up

Paris Saint-Germain predicted Line-Up-

Predicting a winner out of these two would have been easier if just one side had injuries. But both sides are missing their important players. However, it is Bayern who have incurred more loss. PSG will be giving everything they got, but Bayern are most likely to maintain the run in the Champions League with a hard fough draw.

Prediction : Bayern Munich 2-2 Paris Saint Germain
