The Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich are working on a deal that will keep Leon Goretzka in Bavaria longer. But if Bayern fails to tie him further, there are plenty of clubs that are waiting to land the sensational midfielder.

Leon Goretzka joined The Bavarians in 2018 and has been a huge addition to the Bundesliga Champions. German-born, Leon made his professional debut for the 2nd division side, Vfl Bochum. His performance was brilliant enough to attract attention from many European Clubs.

In 2013, he was acquired by FC Schalke for €3 million. He signed a 5-year contract which he fulfilled diligently. He continued his form and helped Schalke secure a Champions League in his first year itself. Leon was shortlisted for the Germany squad and he made his international debut in a friendly against Poland.

But the following year he was only able to make 11 appearances due to a thigh injury. Although he regained full fitness and played many matches the next year, he was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease that suppressed him from delivering his best.

Leon Goretzka deserves a new improved deal at Bayern Munich

Goretzka joined the Bavarians on free from Schalke and has been a great addition for them. In his first season itself, he surpassed his all-time highest appearances. The biggest transformation that was visible for the midfielder after joining them was his physique.

Other than sustaining a few injuries now and then, Goretzka has never been left out from the squad. He has been a crucial part of that unbeatable team. The midfielder has won 9 trophies already in 2 years time, with the sextuple from last year his greatest achievement.

Bayern Munich are keen on extending his contract, which is set to expire next year. Having scored 24 goals and assisted 27 so far, the club knows the importance of his presence in the squad.

There have been rumors reporting that Chelsea are planning to land the player if no contract renewal is made but there has been no credibility of it. A swap deal with Juventus player, Rodrigo Bentancur has also been referred.

However, Fabrizio Romano has said that Bayern are doing everything to tie down the 26-year-old midfielder for further years. It will be tough for Bayern if they lose another talented player for free as they are still feeling the pain of losing their long-time star player David Alaba on free next summer.

Bayern are going to let Costa return back to Juventus

Bayern might be trying their best to keep Leon Goretzka, but the same cannot be said for Douglas Costa. The Brazilian joined the Bavarians on loan from Juventus at the start of this season. However, he has failed to deliver the impact required to impress the club.

Although reports also suggest that the Bianconeri are also not interested in keeping him. His loan move to Bayern was to bring him back to his best form, but there has been no progress. In fact, the 30-year-old’s form has been dropping.

Juventus will be either sending him on another loan spell or try to offload the Brazilian. His first club, Gremio are said to be interested in bringing him back but there have been no official contacts made between the clubs. Juventus will have to deal with him before his contract ends as they will want to get at least something in this debt-struck period.
