About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

According to the recent actions of Bernd Leno, it might suggest that the reportedly on his way out of Arsenal FC.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is on the hunt for a new keeper. The name of Matt Turner has risen as the new no. 1 for Arsenal to replace the 29-year-old. Having reached total agreement with both parties. With Newcastle knocking on Leno’s door, it is sure now that Leno will leave Arsenal this summer.

With Leno now becoming the second choice keeper for Arsenal behind the likes of Aaron Ramsdale. Ramsdale has become an irreplacable figure for the club which makes it more easier for Leno to leave the club than to stay.

In a recent interview Leno said

He said: “Not yet and at the moment it’s not the time to speak about the future. I know that I still have two years left on my contract and I’m also 29. For a goalkeeper, that’s not too old. I’ve still got some years to go.

Leno and his career at Arsenal

Leno joined the Gunners squad back in the year 2018, from Bayer Leverkusen. He kept his position between the Arsenal sticks till this season. Ramsdale was bought by Arsenal to give competition to Leno for the ‘No.1’ position. However, his form and performances when compared to Leno have been far better.

It’s fair to say that Leno has been given his chances. He was involved in games against Chelsea, Brentford and Manchester City which all resulted in defeats. The 29-year-old ended up conceded 9 goals during the outings. This might have forced Arteta to make the necessary changes and bring Ramsadale in the goal.

Although, Leno started as the first-choice goalkeeper, its fair to assume that it won’t be the case at the end.
