The head coach of the India U-17 squad wants his players to be clinical up front.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the India U-17 Men’s National Team will face their Qatar counterparts in the second friendly encounter at the Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar. However, the Blue Colts will be hoping to make a comeback in their second game after falling to the same opponents 1-3 on Saturday. Moreover on the day of the game, head coach Bibiano Fernandes was hopeful.

“The atmosphere in the camp is fantastic. Certainly, we were defeated in the first game, but the lads are motivated to come back in the second game and beat Qatar. This is the type of tenacity one looks for in players, and I hope we can learn from our mistakes in the last game and go on,”

Fernandes added.

The India U-17s, who are preparing for their AFC U-17 Asian Cup campaign later this year, played a level first half before losing two goals in the second in their last encounter against Qatar.

Key findings from Igor Stimac’s Q&A session

“If you look at the first half, things were very even and we had generated plenty of chances throughout the game. “That’s however usually a good indication,” Bibiano Fernandes remarked. “We need to focus on finishing these opportunities, and the lads have been working really hard to do so.”

The match between India and Qatar will begin at 7.30 p.m. IST at the Aspire Academy.
