Birmingham City midfielder pens his first professional contract

Jobe Bellingham

Birmingham City midfield talent Jobe Bellingham signed his first professional contract. The signing of the agreement between the young star and his Championship team had to wait till the player became 17 years old. But Bellingham junior has signed the contract for his birthday on September 23. Bellingham agreed to sign this month after turning 17 and accepted Birmingham’s undisclosed contract offer in July.

The 17-year-old continues in the footsteps of his older brother Jude, an English national team player who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund.

He played twice more for the Blues in the Championship last year after making his Blues debut as a substitute in an FA Cup third-round loss to Plymouth Argyle.

He spent his formative years at the St. Andrew’s academy and has also made appearances for Birmingham’s under-23 and under-18 teams.

The official website of Birmingham City issued a statement.

“With this milestone reached, he has officially penned terms on his first pro deal with the football club.

“Earlier in the summer, he signed a scholarship with Birmingham City and this season has made four first-team appearances, bringing his personal tally to seven in royal blue.”

The young Bellingham brother is a versatile player who can play in any of the midfield roles while also playing as a centre forward for the Birmingham youth teams. His versatility and the technical skills to drive with the ball make him a hot prospect in the market.

After his accomplishments with the first squad at 16, Jobe was reportedly closely studied by BVB, according to both Bild and the Daily Mail.

According to Bild, BVB was planning to sign Jobe to keep Jude with the team. Jude, who carries a £131 million price tag, is being pursued by all the top players in the Premier League.

It is only a matter of time before he moves to a big European team.
