Armando Broja was set to move to newly promoted Ipswich Town from Chelsea, but recent reports reveal the move might collapse.
Ipswich and Chelsea had reached an agreement for the transfer of Broja earlier this week. A loan move was agreed for the striker with a 30 million pounds buy option. It was all agreed but things got changed after the striker completed his medical. Now the deal is in danger of collapsing.
ARMANDO BROJA
Armando Broja was one of the players on the list of Chelsea outcasts whome they want out before the transfer window shuts at the end of this week. Broja, a Chelsea academy graduate is just 22 now and has a really good future ahead. The last two seasons with the Blues yielded only 3 goals and 1 assist which is very low regarding the quality the he has. Broja also had to deal with an ACL injury during the midseason tour in Dubai during the 2022 World Cup. Which subsequently cut short his 2022-23 season.
The very next season he only played as a backup striker to newly arrived Nicolas Jackson but was loaned out to Fulham in January. Broja had to make this oppertunity count in order to revive his career but couldn’t managed to make it. The striker succumbed to make an impact and was left off behind Rodrigo Muniz.
This season new manager Enzo Maresca sees Broja out of his plans and is deemed outcast by theclub. He has been training with the Chelsea developmental squad along with fellow outcasts. Broja was on sale from day one of the transfer window. Clubs from Premier League and abroad were interested in landing Broja.
IPSWICH TRANSFER
Italian giants AC Milan had expressed their interest in signing Broja during the early stages of the window. But the interest gradually died down probably due to the signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid. He had suitors from the Premier League with the likes of Wolves, Everton and newly promoted Ipswich town interested.
According to Football Insider transfer correspondent Peter O’Rourke Everton were exploring a move to sign Broja but were outrun by Ipswich town. It was revealed by August 21 that a deal has been agreed between both clubs. It was a loan move with an obligation to buy if Ipswich avoid relegation. The buy option clause will be worth around 30 million pounds. Anyways the deal was agreed and it was set to be completed this week.
MOVE IN DANGER
It was reported that Broja had completed his medical In Ipswich on Wednesday. Later this week Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian reported that the deal is on the verge of collapsing owing to problems with paperworks. Which according to him was not Chelsea’s fault.
There are other sources citing the reason for collapse was an injured Achilles which was noticed during the medical.
They have already signed Liam Delap from Man City and last season’s Championship top scorer Sammie Smodics from Blackburn Rovers. However Broja’s move is on the verge of collapsing but it is not 100% off. Ipswich are exploring alternative options.
This news may be music to the ears of Everton who thought they had missed out on one of their top target of the summer. Saun Dyche’s side had only scored 40 goals in 38 PL matches last season and were in search of a striker ahead of the new season. Considering the start they have made this season it is crucial that they sign a striker ASAP. The Toffees are pointless and goalless after two games and conceded a total of 7 goals. Their two top targets were Eddie Nketiah and Armando Broja. Nketiah is set for a move to Nottingham Forest whereas Broja’s move is on a stand still now.
