Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjær went with a pretty attacking side. The front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani. Cavani returned to the side after finishing his three-match ban.
Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba also started against a very physical and pragmatic Burnley side. Eric Bailly started alongside Harry Maguire in place of injured Victor Lindelof.
Burnley went with the traditional 4-4-2 formation with James Tarkowski and Ben Mee the defensive pairing along with Nick Pope in goals. Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood were the two physical strikers started upfront for The Clarets.

It was a hard-fought game for both the side as neither team managed to create a clear cut opportunity for themselves. The game had a bite as neither side wanted to give a single inch.
Burnley started the game perfectly according to the plan of coach Sean Dyche, they wanted to frustrate Manchester United and they were pretty much successful in that.
Manchester United tried to keep the ball but they couldn’t create anything significant apart from the disallowed Maguire goal for a foul.
Fernandes and Martial had the shots on goal but goalkeeper Pope made good saves for both the attempts.
Manchester United dominated the second half from the start and Bruno Fernandes tried few long-rangers but nothing put under huge trouble Nick Pope.
United were able to push the Burnley side in the back foot on the second half. In the end, the Red Devils found the important breakthrough on the 71st-minute, a Rashford cross found beautifully Pogba on the edge of the box and his controlled volley deflected into the back of the net.
At the dying minutes of the game, Burnley put pressure on the United defence but they could not find the equaliser as the substitute Matej Vydra’s attempts went way over the crossbar three times.
