Can AC Milan steal Serie A title from under Inter Milan’ nose?

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Will AC Milan provide Inter Milan a strong fight for the Serie A title race in the remaining 10 fixtures of the season in the last few months? This is the biggest question in the mind of football fans in this season.

Inter Milan are at the top of the Serie A league table at the moment with 65 points in 27 games. The Nerazzurri are 6 points ahead of the city rivals AC Milan. The Rossoneri are sitting second with 59 points in 28 games.

The reigning champions Juventus are 3rd in the table with 55 points in 27 games. It seems the Bianconeri will lose the title champions of Italy for the first time in 10 years.

The Rossoneri started the season really well with the right blend of young and experienced players in their squad. Stefano Pioli’s side were at the top of the table for the first half of the season. But injuries to their main man Zlatan Ibrahimovic and other crucial players, inconsistent performances from the young players pushed them behind the top spot.

In this inconsistent period of Milan, Inter utilised the situation brilliantly and they picked up their game excellently. Antonio Conte’s side won their last 8 consecutive games in Serie A. They are unbeaten in the last 11 league games.

Does Milan have the firepower to challenge Inter?

The main man of AC Milan to look for the goal is Ibrahimovic, who has been excellent when he played. But the biggest problem is that the 39-years-old forward only involved in half of Milan’s Serie A games this season.

The Swedish forward scored 15 goals in 15 league games this season which is very impressive from a 39-years-old forward. In this back end of the season, it will be even harder for Ibrahimovic to keep himself fit as he returned to international football.

On the other hand, Inter have two best forwards in the league Lautaro Martínez and Romelu Lukaku. They have contributed a combined 33 goals and 13 assists this season.

Inter Milan got a coach who is very successful in league competitions. Wherever he goes, he delivers the league titles. On the contrary, Milan coach Pioli is not that successful in his managerial career. He does not have experience of a situation like this.

The biggest surprise is we are not counting the record Serie A champions as contenders. Andrea Pirlo’s side lost the superiority in this season and lost the ability to win games on bad days. Which is the main attribute of a champion team.

It was an open title challenge in the first half of the season as AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli were all in the race. However, now it is much more clear that this season’s Serie A title is Inter’s to lose. And now football fans are hoping that Milan will give a last-ditched push in the race to keep the football fans at the edge of their sits.
