Cannavaro offers support to Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo

Fabio Cannavaro urged Juventus to back the underperforming manager Andrea Pirlo to give him time to gain experience. Cannavaro believes that Pirlo will come good with time.

Juventus appointed Pirlo in the summer as the head coach of the club. Even though Pirlo didn’t have any managerial experience at any level before taking the biggest job in Italy. And both Pirlo and the club have struggled this season.

The Bianconeri are sitting 4th in Serie A with the same points as 5th place Napoli. The reigning Italian champions are 12 points behind the leader Inter Milan.

The Old Lady were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by FC Porto in the Round of 16. Their only hope of getting any silverware is in the Coppa Italia. Pirlo’s side will meet Atalanta in the final. If they manage to lose this they will remain trophyless in a season for the first time in ages.

Cannavaro backed Pirlo as Juventus manager

Despite a poor season in charge, former teammate Fabio Cannavaro backed the 41-year-old to succeed as manager of Juventus. He should get time from Andrea Agnelli to gain experience.

“Sure, some things don’t work, he has made mistakes: he’s human. It’s a heritage that must be protected. After all, if Juve don’t confirm his position, what did they choose him to do last summer? They would be wrong twice if they take that decision now. And the blame can’t only be his if the players make mistakes on and off the pitch.” – Fabio Cannavaro.

What will Juventus do with Pirlo is the main question, will they hear Cannavaro and keep the legend as the manager for next season or they sack Pirlo and appoint yet another manager.

Choosing Pirlo as the manager was a big mistake from the board of Juventus this season. And now after choosing an inexperienced manager not giving him the proper time to flourish could be another mistake from the Bianconeri. Pirlo has a very important game in Serie A on Wednesday against Napoli in the race for the top four.
