About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Kristoffer Ajer is a busy man going into the summer transfer window. According to FussballTransfers, top Bundesliga clubs including RB Leipzig are interested in signing the Norwegian.

Apart from Leipzig, the other Bundesliga club in the race for the signature of Ajer is Bayer Leverkusen. Both clubs have defensive gaps in their teams and are in need of reinforcement.

Ajer who for Celtic are contracted to the club till 2022. Other than clubs from Bundesliga, the newly-promoted Premier League side Norwich City has also expressed their interest in the Norwegian.

BUNDESLIGA SIDES BATTLING FOR AJER

Both Leipzig and Leverkusen are going through changes in their team especially at the back. Lars and Sven Bender have retired, while Aleksandar Dragovic left the club on a free transfer. The other centre-back options are Jonathan Tah and Edmond Tapsoba of which Tapsoba is attracting attention from top clubs like Arsenal.

Similarly, Leipzig are also short of center-back options. Both Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano has left the club to join Liverpool and Bayern Munich respectively. This leaves behind Willi Orban as the only option. The club is prioritizing the signature of a center-back this season and this includes the name of Ajer and Maxence Lacroix of VfL Wolfsburg.

Bayer Leverkusen have previous experience of dealing with the Celtics. The Germans signed Jeremie Frimpong from the Hoops in the January of 2021. However, Leipzig can offer Champions League to the defender and can also provide a bigger package.

AN ABLE DEFENDER

Kristoffer Ajer has been a rock at the back for Celtic ever since his move to Scotland. He has played 176 times for the club and has scored 7 times during this period. He has also represented his nation, Norway, 23 times.

A huge presence in the box, Ajer is good aerially. He is a good passer and loves playing long balls. Always ready for a tackle, the Norwegian is also adept at counter-attacks which is a good bonus. His contract with Celtic will end in 2022 and could be available for £16 million.

The Bundesliga clubs will have to act fast if they want to sign the 23-year-old. This is because of the interest he is gaining from the Premier League side. Newly promoted Norwich are heavily linked with the Norwegian while Newcastle United are also monitoring the situation. It will be only a matter of time before Ajer moves away from Glasgow.
