Sudeva Delhi FC: All-Indian Squad Hope For a Successful I-League Start

Sudeva Delhi FC will represent Delhi in their maiden appearance in the upcoming I-League season 2020-21.

The Delhi based team has turned many heads as they have only appointed Indian players in their squad. This will certainly promote the young Indian players who will have a big stage to show their talent and skills.

Sudeva FC will kick-off their I-League journey against Mohammedan SC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on January 9th.

A Brief History of Sudeva Delhi FC:

Sudeva Delhi FC started their journey as Sudeva Moonlight FC in 2016. They appeared for I-League second division in 2016-17. In June 2020. The All India Football Federation(AIFF) invited bids for the participation of teams in the I-League. Three teams including Sudeva FC placed their bid. However, only the Delhi based club had a direct entry into the competition. The name was declared in November 2020.

Although they are the new boys of the I-League, they formed their team with care. They appointed Chencho Dorji as their head coach, who certainly has faith in Indian players. They have 23 players in their squad and all of them are homegrown.

Dorji’s side also has many youngsters like Kean Lewis, Manvir Singh, Lalhmingchhuanga. Sudeva has also brought in players from Indian Super League clubs on loan. Goalkeeper Lovepreet Singh and forwards Naorem and Shaiborlang joined from Kerala Blasters and Ayush Chhikara from Mumbai City FC.

Manvir Singh on Sudeva FC’s All Indian Squad:

Former Indian Arrows forward Manvir Singh will represent the team from the national capital in I-League. The promising young player has said that it would be their opportunity to shine and labeled the competition as challenging for them.

“It’s a great opportunity for us as our squad has all Indian players, who are ready to show what we can do together as a team. Competing in the I-League is going to be challenging but also exciting at the same time.”

“It will be challenging to play without foreigners but at the same time, it’s a great opportunity for everyone at the club to improve themselves and showcase their talent on the national stage.”

The 19-year-old forward has told the I-League official website that they have been training really hard. He is also a confident young lad who thinks hard work will pay off. He stated that his coach believes in him and supports him to get better every day.

“Our coach has been very good to us and helps us a lot in understanding how to play together as a team. He pushes me every day as he believes in my scoring ability.”

Manvir also played down the fact that his team will be under pressure. He is looking forward to playing consistently and perform well in his second I-League campaign.
