-Ashalata’s thoughts on women’s football future

For the next generation to bring the flag forward, hosting the Youth World Cup and the premier Asian competition on Indian land would only serve as more inspiration.

But before looking toward a promising future, to celebrate an amazing bunch of Indian women football players who made it all possible, despite the odds, it is important to take note of the past and the present.

“Earlier, we didn’t see many girls play football. Now, the numbers have gone up significantly. In the FIFA U-17 World Cup, more girls from various countries will come to India and our girls will get an opportunity to rub shoulders with the world’s best. That will help change the overall mind-set,”
