Wolverhampton Wanderers Eye Second Chance at Bundesliga Target

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers might have another opportunity to sign a player they were interested in last summer. This time, the player, who plays in the Bundesliga, could be available for just £8 million.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a mixed season in the Premier League, experiencing both good and bad moments. Since Gary O’Neil took over as manager just before the start of the season, the team has faced challenges, including controversial VAR decisions and being close to relegation. However, luck has recently turned in their favor, and their performances have improved, leading to better results.

Before the season started, many predicted that Wolverhampton Wanderers would be relegated. However, they have defied expectations and currently hold the 10th position in the league, two points ahead of Chelsea. They might even qualify for European football by the end of the season. Due to financial constraints last summer, they couldn’t spend much, but now they might be able to invest more and revisit a player they missed out on last year.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Eyeing Nico Elvedi as Defensive Reinforcement

Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi, who is 27 years old, is reportedly available for sale this summer. He has played over 250 matches for the German club and has represented Switzerland 50 times. Last summer, Wolves showed interest in signing him, but the deal fell through, and he remained in the Bundesliga. However, Wolves might try to sign him again as Monchengladbach looks to raise funds by selling players according to Sport Witness.

Elvedi wanted to join Wolves previously but the clubs couldn’t agree on a fee. He signed a new contract with Monchengladbach until 2027, but it’s believed that there’s a release clause allowing him to leave for around €10 million.

While Craig Dawson has been a great player for Wolves, he’s now 33 years old and may not be as good as before. Apart from him, the team only has Max Kilman, Toti Gomes, and Santiago Bueno as options for the defense. This means they might need to bring in new players to strengthen their defense.
