UEFA champions league: Chelsea vs Real Madrid, A Revenge – Full Clash

Graham Potter

The recent champions league draw is expected to create mixed reactions amongst the Chelsea fans as they look to take revenge against last seasons winners.
Real Madrid, on the other hand coming on the back of a comfortable win against the reds will look to defend the silverware.

The Blues, defeated Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16.

Before the key match at Stamford Bridge, the two will square off in the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg. The winner of the match will face the winner of Manchester City’s match against Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid’s performance against Liverpool the previous time around demonstrated how well they perform on the biggest stage. Therefore this a very challenging draw for Chelsea. Los Blancos are one of the favourites to win the European championship for the 15th time this season after winning it a record-tying 14 times.

Revenge on the horizon

Last season, when Chelsea faced the Madrid-based team, the visitors won the first leg 3-1 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a spectacular hat-trick from Karim Benzema. Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger, and Timo Werner scored as the Blues won the second leg at the Bernabeu. But the final score was 5-4 on aggregate due to Benzema’s extra-time winner for the Spanish team.

The blues will be hoping to come out winners this time around. And the recent results will provide the fans the much need confidence going into the tie.
