Celtic may find it tough in the Premiership

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

The Premiership club Celtic would be missing their captain Callum McGregor as he sits on the bench for a long. With the important matches coming up for The Bhoys, it will be a long and difficult season for the Scots.

Inspiring Captain, Tough Opponent

The captain limped off in the first half of a Champions League match between RB Leipzig and Celtic in Germany. Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou, manager of Celtic, revealed he sustained the injury just before Leipzig’s first goal, but he was determined to continue playing and did so for more than ten minutes until being replaced by Oliver Abildgaard.

The captain is now on his way to meet a specialist who can diagnose the issue. But rumors are doing circle that he will be missing crucial Premiership games, as well as the huge Champions League, matches against the Germans and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Postecoglou in an interview said:

“He’s off to see a specialist today, it’s fairly significant. It won’t be short-term. He’s a fantastic player and beyond that, it’s his influence on and off the field as a leader. There’s not one person that can replace that, it will be a case of the other guys stepping up and filling the breach.”

“Obviously he is disappointed because he’s such a big part of how we play our football and what we’ve created here so I know he’ll be working hard, whatever the time line we get back.”

Celtic in the Premiership this season

The Hoops this season has been fantastic. They have won 7 out of 8 matches, losing just 1 match. Currently, they are sitting at the top of the Premiership table. In the Champions League, however, the Scottish club’s chances of making it into the next round are slim. But the Premiership trophy is what they must be eyeing.
