Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei has been frozen out of the first team by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca ahead of the Bournemouth match.
It has come to everyone’s surprise that a young prospect like Casadei has been exhiled from the first team for the rest of the season. Maresca had regularly used him last season while he was on loan at Leicester but now he is out of plans. With the whole host of options in the midfield, we can just assume that there is no room for casedei anymore. Maresca has not given any explanations regarding his decisions yet. Now with all the tansfer windows shut. Casadei has to survive atleast a half a season with the ‘bomb squad’ before exploring options elsewhere.
CESARE CASADEI’S TIME AT CHELSEA
Cesare Casedei is an Italian midfielder who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in August 2022. Considered one of Italy’s top young prospects, he initially played in their U21 squad. He developed through their youth system then went on loans to Championship sides Reading and Leicester City to gain valuable experiences. He came into attention when he played a crucial role in the 2023 U20 World Cup for Italy. Despite Italy being runners up in the competition Casadei was named the best player in the tournament and also took the golden boot home with 7 goals. It might be this performance that attrcated interest from Maresca’s Leicester City last year.
During the first halfof the years Maresca used hit compatriot on a regular basis. But due to the overload of injuries, his parent club decided to call him back for the second half of the season. It might have been, kind of a sofie’s choice for Casadei at that moment. On one side he was getting consistent playing time at Leicester. And on the other side his dream club was struggling with injuries. Anyway he returned to club but played no further part that season.
When Enzo Maresca joined Chelsea, Casadei and his welwishers might have thought that his time has come. But unfortunately, with overload of quality in the team the Italian manager no more favours him and has been frozen out of the team. He is one more example of ill fated teenagers who have hit road blocks in their career path after signig for Chelsea. This type of hoarding policy of Chelsea have been criticized for so long now still they are signing young players.
WHAT NEXT FOR CASADEI?
According to the reliable sources of Football Insider Cesare Casadei has now joined the so called ‘bomb squad’. A squad consisting of players who are out of Maresca’s plan. It is also said that Chelsea had told Casadei in July that he can find a new club. But unfortunately there were no takers from Europe nor Turkey. He has wait now to atleast January to find a potential suitors. Casadei is only 21 year old and has a really good future ahead and with huge potential. Chelsea have been a bit cruel to him but he has to wait now. And in case another injury crisis hits the Blues he will be integrated back to the first team. It is not that Casadei will not play for Chelsea this season rather he is eligible to play with only limitted chances.
Yesterday he was on the bench for Chelsea against Bournemouth but when Dewsbury Hall returns he will be out again. Cesare Casadei will not have a consistent place even in the Chelsea bench.
WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA?
Chelsea are back to winning ways after the victory against Bournemouth last night. A 0-1 away victory courtesy of a late goal from Christopher Nkunku assisted by Jadon Sancho on his debut. Maresca would be relieved to see atleast one of his combo (Sancho and Nkunku) linking up well. Next up Chelsea face West Ham in the Premier League at home.
