Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United: Players Ratings and MOM


Manchester United could not beat yet another game against the traditional top six clubs. On Sunday away at Stamford Bridge, they drew 0-0 to Chelsea and this was their 5th goalless draw against the big six teams in this season’s Premier League.

Chelsea continued their unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel. It was their 7th clean sheet in 9 games since the arrival of Tuchel, they only conceded two goals and one of them is an own goal from Antonio Rudiger. Chelsea’s defence remain unblemished at Stamford Bridge.

Edouard Mendy(GK) – (7/10): He was required on a few occasions to help his team with saves and did very well.

César Azpilicueta(RCB) – (6.5/10): Kept Marcus Rashford very quiet throughout the game and he was solid as usual defensively.

Andreas Christensen(CB) – (6.5/10): Didn’t have to do many as United were not threatening enough but did well when he was needed to play out from the back.

Antonio Rüdiger(LCB) – (6.5/10): It was an easy game for him against Dan James and once made a good run through the middle.

Callum Hudson-Odoi(RWB) – (7/10): He played well in the first half and United had a penalty shout against him. He was taken off at half time for an injury.

N’Golo Kanté(CM) – (6/10): Didn’t give much open space for Bruno Fernandes but with the ball made few bad decisions.

Mateo Kovačić(CM) – (7/10): Energetic in the midfield and also worked hard in defence and going forward.

Ben Chilwell(LWB) – (6/10): Tuchel gave him a start but he was not good in attack and looked rusty a bit.

Hakim Ziyech(RW) – (4.5/10): He has not been able to find his form since his arrival but he was better in the second half.

Mason Mount(LW) – (7/10): Mister consistent had another good game and worked extensively hard in the middle.

Olivier Giroud(CF) – (5.5/10): He didn’t have much joy and looked off a bit before coming off in the second half.


Reece James(RWB) – (6/10): Came in for Hudson-Odoi in the second half and delivered a super cross to score.

Christian Pulisic – (6/10): Came in for Giroud but couldn’t get involved in the game.

Timo Werner – (N/A): He came late into the game and could not create anything significant.

Manchester United:

David de Gea(Gk) – (6.5/10): Made a terrific save early in the second half to keep his clean sheet.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka(RB) – (6/10): Didn’t manage anything well in attack and he was not required a lot in defence.

Victor Lindelof(CB) – (6/10): He looked shaky and had trouble in the air against Giroud in the first half.

Harry Maguire(CB) – (6/10): He does not look confident with Lindelof in the defensive pairing. He wasn’t good at this game.

Luke Shaw(LB) – (7/10): Went forward in a few situations and produced a few good balls but it couldn’t become good in the final third for the forward players.

Scott McTominay(CM) – (6/10): Came back to the side after recovering from injury but didn’t do much for his side.

Fred(CM) – (6.5/10): Tried a couple of long-rangers but it was not enough to beat Mendy.

Bruno Fernandes(CAM) – (5.5/10): Another big game and yet again he could not provide for his team. He was completely quiet throughout the 90 minutes.

Daniel James(RW) – (5/10): He started ahead of Anthony Martial but didn’t have any joy in the game.

Marcus Rashford(LW) – (5/10): Azpilicueta didn’t give any space for him and he was unable to create of his own either.

Mason Greenwood(CF) – (5.5/10): United players weren’t able to create for him. Greenwood tried to do it by coming down to the deep but it was too much to ask for him.


Anthony Martial(CF) – (5/10): Came on for Greenwood but remained quiet and fail to produce like Mason Greenwood.

Man of the Match:

Luke Shaw is the man of the match who has been in great form in this season for the Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side in this dull 0-0 encounter.
