Leeds United scored the first goal through in-form striker Patrick Bamford, but Chelsea managed to win with an impressive comeback win.

Chelsea are now on a 9 game unbeaten run in the Premier League. Leeds on the other hand slumped to their third defeat in 5 games, now just 14 points from 11 league games.

Chelsea 3 – 1 Leeds United Team News:

Chelsea started with a 4-3-3 formation with Ziyech, Giroud, and Werner leading from the front. Frank Lampard made two changes to the squad that drew against Tottenham last week. Kovacic and Abraham were dropped for Havertz and Giroud.

Marco Bielsa named an unchanged squad that had edged 0-1 against Everton last week. Bamford led the line-up yet again and took his tally to 7 away goals for the season.

Chelsea started the game with a lot of energy and had 2 shots within the first 2 minutes.

Then much against the run of play, Kalvin Phillips curled a well-weighted ball from the halfway line around Zouma to Bamford. Bamford kept his cool, snuck it past an onrushing Mendy, and bundled it into the goal to give Leeds United the lead.

Chelsea could have responded almost immediately from a corner. Mount swung the ball in towards Giroud, who flicked it to the far post. Werner tried to tap it in from close range but messed it up terribly. His first touch went towards the keeper and the shot that followed struck the underside of the crossbar before the defence cleared it.

Chelsea continued to threaten towards the goal and it finally paid off. Ziyech pulled the defenders towards him before laying the ball off for Reece James. James whipped a beautiful cross in and Olivier Giroud struck out his left foot and slammed it into the near post.

In the second half, Leeds could have gone ahead but Raphinha shot was saved by Mendy and the follow-up was skied above the crossbar. Chelsea could have made them pay for it almost immediately. Giroud rolled the ball towards Werner, who charged towards the goal and took a shot. Meslier pushed it to the byline which allowed Werner to take another shot. This time Meslier saved it with his foot. Mount struck the rebound but it was saved yet again.

The very next minute, Chelsea took the lead from a corner. Mount struck a pinpoint in-swinger towards Zouma who buried it into the back of the net.

Chelsea kept pushing for another goal, forcing Meslier to make some really good saves. Finally, their 3rd goal came in the 3rd minute of stoppage time.

Kovacic slid a pass through the Leeds defence to let Werner chase for. Werner used his pace to the maximum, charged towards the goal, and placed a timed ball into the 6-yard box for Pulisic to slide it home.

Chelsea next host Krasnodar for the final game of the group stage of the Champions League while Leeds host West Ham next weekend.

Reece James(8/10): Constant threat down the right, had a huge impact on the result.

Mason Mount(7/10): Powerhouse of Chelsea’s attack. Great link-up plays and passes.

Kalvin Phillips(6/10): Delightful assist in the first half. Couldn’t do much to save the game.
