After back to back losses, Chelsea managed to get a hard-fought 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge against West Ham United. The result might not show the real picture of the match but Chelsea managed to grind a crucial victory.
Thiago Silva opened the scoring at 10 minutes mark from a corner and late on to the game Tammy Abraham scored two goals in no time gave them a much-needed win against a resilient West Ham side.
With this victory, Frank Lampard’s side moved on to 5th position in Premier League, 25 points from 14 matches and now they are ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in goal difference with the same number of points.
West Ham United played the game well and pegged back Chelsea at home but could not trouble the Chelsea backline and didn’t manage a single attempt on target. The Hammers are now 10th with 21 points in 14 matches.
Players Ratings Chelsea 3-0 West Ham United:
Edouard Mendy(GK) – (6/10): A very comfortable night for him, didn’t even have to save a single ball. Once Declan Rice scored round pass him but it was disallowed for offside.
Cesar Azpilicueta(RB) – (6/10): Made a very important block in the second half and did very well to cover a West Ham counter-attack 20 minutes in, intercepting Sebastien Haller. Going forward he looked very good as well.
Kurt Zouma(CB) – (6.5/10): Did very well against Haller to keep him quiet and he was very solid in defence even though West Ham dominated the game at some stages and dealt very well against the crosses.
Thiago Silva(CB) – (8/10): Scored a fantastic headed goal from a Mason Mount corner and unruffled in defence to repelled West Ham threats.
Ben Chilwell(LB) – (N/A): Injured very early on the game at 9th minutes mark, came worst in a challenge against Jarred Bowen, and was taken off for Emerson Palmieri.
N’Golo Kante(CM) – (6.5/10): Not as effective in an advanced role for the inclusion of Jorginho, But played his preferred position in the second half after Jorginho’s substitution. Played a tidy game apart from a slip in the first half.
Jorginho(CDM) – (6/10): Started the game well but gifted position to Bowen in a dangerous situation and made a few missed place passes as well. Eventually substituted in the second half.
Mason Mount(CM) – (7/10): Delivered an excellent corner for the first goal and also created two big chances. Also worked very hard throughout the game, overall he played very well.
Christian Pulisic(RW) – (6.5/10): Looked very exciting on the counter-attack in the first but he wasn’t 100% after his second start since the latest hamstring issue. It wasn’t a good match from him.
Tammy Abraham(CF) – (8.5/10): Scored two goals in a crucial moment of the match. Showed two great finishes, overall worked very hard in this match, and never stopped running and trying.
Timo Werner(LW) – (6/10): He seems to lost his confidence and missed two great opportunities. His miss strike on the second goal became an assist for the Tammy Abraham goal.
Emerson Palmieri(LB) – (5.5/10): Came on for injured Chilwell on the 10 minutes mark just before the first goal. Going forward he was good but looked shaky in defence.
Mateo Kovacic(CM) – (6/10): Came on for Jorginho on the 66th-minute mark, pressed effectively but otherwise nothing significant to say.
Kai Havertz(RW) – (N/A): He replaced Pulisic but didn’t have time to influence the game.
Man of the match:
Tammy Abraham is our man of the match, scored a beautiful goal of his inside of the right foot for the first goal, and finishing in the second goal was good as well.
