Chelsea join the race to sign French defender
Christian Falk has reported that Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool are all showing interest in Castello Lukeba. But, Real Madrid are leading the race for the 22 year old who has a hefty £74.5 million release clause in his contract.
Lukeba currently plays for RB Leipzig whom he joined in 2023 from Lyon. He has already made his international debut for France national team. Leipzig are aware of his quality and demand which will make them non negotiable when it comes to the player’s release clause.
Firstly, Madrid are said to spend big on defenders in summer. They have William Saliba as their top priority but Gunners are unwilling to sell him. Hence, they may focus on Lukeba and get the deal done with ease.
Liverpool are planning to replace Virgil van Dijk. In addition, there are exit rumours about Ibrahima Konate. This will make defensive signings an urgent matter in the summer window.
Lastly, United are set for a major shakeup in all parts of pitch. Plenty of their current stars will get sold in summer which will need a proper requirement. Amorim will want to sign young players so that they can he looked upon as long-term targets.
