Chelsea and Tottenham are both keen to improve their defence and Illia Zabarnyi has emerged as common target. AFC Bournemouth have him secured for long time but may part ways with defender if their demands are fulfilled.
The Blues are doing really well in Premier League this season. They are on the third position in the points table. They could have been even higher if they were better in defence. Chelsea board is now aware of the issue and has made defender their top priority for next year.
On the other hand, Tottenham too are struggling with defence. They are scoring regularly but are unable to keep clean sheets. This has costed them and made them sit on 10th position in the Premier League.
Chelsea and Tottenham view Zabarnyi as potential solution to their defensive crises
Illia Zabarnyi has been very good this season. He recently helped Bournemouth to defeat former champions Man City. He is only 22 years old and hence can be seen as a long term solution. The 22 year old has played all 11 Premier League games for Bournemouth this season.
Bournemouth have recently secure the Ukrainian with a contract running until 2029. But as per CaughtOffside, they will be open to listen to the offers around £50 million for their star defender. Despite the price sounding very high, both Chelsea and Tottenham are willing to meet Bournemouth’s demands.
The Blues are also linked with Tomas Araujo. The Portugese defender was said to be a defender Chelsea really like. But he has a €100 million release clause and hence Chelsea will monitor other cheaper options.
Zabarnyi currently hold an upper hand as he also has experience of playing into Premier League. A move in January does not seem to happen as the Cherries will hope to stick with their winning formula. But they should surely expect for offers in summer.
