Chelsea and Man United have both shown interest in signing Samu Omorodion. Despite having a good squad depth at number nine position, both Premier League sides are keen to add another striker.
Samu Omorodion has been in superb form for Porto this season. He joined them on permanent transfer this summer from Atletico Madrid. He has already scored 13 goals along with picking 1 assist in just 16 games so far.
The 20 year old impressed everyone this season and as a result was called up to represent Spanish national team recently. He made his debut for Spain in the Nations League against Switzerland last month.
Chelsea and United keen to sign Omorodion
Portu are very happy with the 20 year old striker. They have tied him down with contract running until 2029. But this is not stopping top clubs from keeping tabs on him. Omorodion looks like he will very soon join one of the top clubs in Europe.
As per Todo Fichajes, both Chelsea and Man United are keen to sign the 20 year old. They are interested to bring him to England as his age and quality will make him a long-term investment.
The Blues have a great squad depth right now. Nicolas Jackson has levelled up and has been unstoppable this season. In addition, Nkunku has backed him very well and scored consistently.
But, Nkunku is reported to leave the club next year in search of regular game time. This will open up space and Omorodion may fit very well. He even fits the new strategy adapted by Chelsea of hiring young players.
On the other hand, Omorodion can be viewed as an upgrade on both Hojlund and Zirkzee. As of now, the Spanish striker has been far better than the United duo this season. The only problem will be that United will not be able to guarantee Omorodion UEFA Champions League next season.
Latest Updates
Samu Omorodion has taken a decision to take his mother’s surname. He announced in November that he wants to be known as Samu Aghehowa. Agehowa is the surname of his mother to whom he wants to honour by doing so.
