Chelsea & Arsenal handed major blow in pursuit of Spanish winger

Temporary Unemployed Football Agents

Chelsea and Arsenal are both willing to sign a young Spanish winger this summer. But, they have now been handed a major blow in their pursuit. This may result in failure of the deal and the player missing out on Premier League move.

Chelsea are keen to sign a new winger this summer. Firstly, they are set to part ways with Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman wants to leave due to lack of gametime and the Blues are ready to let him leave. They may demand around £40 million for the 27 year old.

In addition, the Blues are also set to sell Joao Felix after just one year. The Portugese is struggling for minutes and is already away from Stamford Bridge on loan. Lastly, the West London club will also sell Mudryk if he is not found guilty in the doping tests.

Hence, Chelsea need a wide forward who plays on the left. But, they want him to be young and able to play on right and in middle when needed. This is the same profile being looked upon by Arsenal although they are open to sign a more experienced player.

Chelsea and Arsenal learn about wage demands of Spanish winger

The star in question here is Nico Williams of Athletic Club. He is 22 years old and is one of the best young players in the world. Arsenal were keen to sign him in last summer but failed to do so. But, they have not given up on him and are willing to try again this summer.

Williams is also looked upon by Chelsea as he fits in their plans. According to Chris Wheeler, the representatives of Nico Williams are demanding a salary of more than £400,000 per week. Both of the London giants are unwilling to match those figures. Hence, a move to England for Nico Williams may result in failure.
