Chelsea back in business under Maresca?

Chelsea‘s newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca is having a great time with his players in the training session. Since his arrival, he has brought in 11 new faces in the club. The club also parted ways with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell as the manager believes they are not in the part of his plans.

After managing the players in the pre-seasons and in the leagues, Maresca now surely knows his best Xi in the pitch. He is still working hard with the new players to build up understanding with them. The Chelsea squad have changed drastically from the one Maresca inherited before the season. The hunger seems to be there under the Italian.

But the performances so far in the Premier League and Conference League qualifiers isn’t much to be glad about. It has reflected what the squad really is- collection of young talents with enough potential but without too much of a chemistry to get the work done together. They can be individually good enough to be match winners. But still lacks something to be consistent.

The ongoing international break has helped Maresca to gain some time. He will be having a large group of players at the Cobham academy to train with and get them ready for the challenges ahead of the season. Currently all the injured players can rest and recover well to come back later into the action.

Chelsea squad update

The Blues current squad consists of 30 professional football players. While many of them are out for their national duties, some are still at the Cobham academy. Those who stayed behind includes the likes of- Dewsbury-Hall, Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana and even Cole Palmer.

Decision regarding the Conference League squad list:

The injury lists at the Blues academy is concerning. In the past season players like- captain James, Gusto and others have suffered from injury issues and was out for more than half of the season. So, to endure a long season ahead and to share the overload, Maresca have made a separate squad list for the UEFA Conference League. Players like Badiashile, Disasi and Adarabioyo have all got selected as first choice defenders in that squad. But Palmer, Fofana and Lavia have been left out.

Palmer & Nkunku update:

As per the reports of Football.London The English internatioanl is currently not seen training with the Blues squad. It seems like Palmer has some slight issues with his fitness. However, deadline day signing Jadon Sancho will come handy in the absence of Palmer. Frenchman Christopher Nkunku does not have a exact role in the squad as of now. But he is too good to be leftout from that Chelsea squad. He is still working for his fitness and can play a major role in the coming future for the Blues.

Lavia & James update:

The break has come in handy for the young Romeo Lavia also. He has started the first two games for the Blues but was eventually left out due to a hamstring injury. Though it doesn’t seem serious enough but he will take his time. Chelsea consider him as a key player for this season’s success. While captain James is yet to feature for the Blues this season, he will be recovering slowly. He was available for the UECL matches but he didn’t play any minutes. Chelsea fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery for their captain.

The Blues potential best Xi

While Chelsea faces Bournemouth this weekend, they are not very far away from their potential best eleven. The Blues is left with only 2-3 players short of their best playing eleven (Sanchez, James, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Lavia, Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Jackson, Neto.) Players like Madueke, Nkunku, Felix, Dewsbury-Hall, Sancho and others will play a very important role throughout the season by coming off the bench and even by starting according to the conditions.

However, it will be interesting to see how the Italian manages such a big squad with so much talent and potential. Chelsea fans will be hoping for some good outcome as they last won a trophy in 2021 in the form of the Champions League.
