Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has revealed three of his players can’t play together. This has became a concern for the Italian coach and has him feeling shameful.
Enzo Maresca had a good start to his Chelsea career. He has helped the Blues to secure the fourth position in the Premier League. They have been scoring regularly and can challenge for titles if they improve their defence.
The Blues have a very good squad depth which makes them ready for long run. But, it has also became tough for Maresca who feels shameful for not giving his stars enough game-time. He has now revealed three stars who can’t play together and all of these are big names.
Maresca says that these three Chelsea players can’t play together
Enzo Maresca has said that he can’t fit Cole Palmer, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku in the same team. All of these players are big names and hence it has Maresca feeling sorry for not been able to give them regular game time.
“I feel a shame for Joao and I would like to give him more minutes in the Premier League, but we need defensive balance and we cannot play Joao, Cole, Christo” – Maresca speaking about his selection troubles.
Maresca explained what he wants to say by saying that he would love to play all three but they do need to defend as well. If he absolutely right as all three of these stars are slightly weak in defense as they should be.
Palmer has been one of the best players in the world ever since joining Chelsea. Hence it is no surprise that he will start the games over Felix and Nkunku. But, it may be hard for these players to regularly sit on bench which may tempt a move away from the club.
Lastly, Maresca also had his say about Nkunku. He said that the Frenchman is an attacking midfielder but he is using him as a striker. He added that it is what is needed right now and players should adapt to get more game-time.
We can see that Maresca is doing a really good job right now. He is trying to give enough playing time to all the players which is obviously not an easy job considering the amount of players Chelsea have at the moment. All of Maresca’s comments are from his latest press conference via The Mirror.
