Chelsea boss shares ‘concerning update’ about his regular starter

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has shared an important update about of the injured stars. The star has been regular starter for the Blues this season. The update is concerning and may affect the rhythm of the club.

The star in question here is Wesley Fofana. Fofana joined the Blues in 2022 from Leicester City. He had a rough start to his Chelsea career as he faced serious injury in his debut season at West London.

The Frenchman was limited to only 20 appearances in his first season. But, he was able to bounce back this season. He became the regular starter for the new boss Enzo Maresca who paired him with Levi Colwill.

However, Fofana has once again been hit with bad luck. He suffered hamstring injury which has kept him out since last month. Enzo Maresca just had press conference where he gave updates about the 24 year old.

Chelsea boss shares concerning update about Wesley Fofana

Enzo Maresca seemed worried about Fofana when talking about his injury. He said that the defender can be out for whole season and stated this as a ‘huge loss’.

“It was the first update that we had (initial updates that Fofana may recover after 5 weeks). We realised it was worse than what we though at the beginning. It’s hamstring and unfortunately, we are going to lose him for a while” – Maresca about Fofana in press conference via Absolute Chelsea.

This will now present the Blues with two options. Firstly, they can sign a high quality defender this month itself. The second option is they stick with the current squad as Aaron Anselmino is now back from loan.

Maresca was also asked about Anselmino. The Italian replied that they are planning to keep the Argentine with them at West London. Fofana’s absence can hand Anselmino with debut for Chelsea very soon.
