Chelsea can take advantage of United’s current situation and sign …

Chelsea can take the advantage of current situation at Man United to complete the signing of their target. They can step-up their interest and get the deal done in the summer window.

The Chelsea target in question here is Kobbie Mainoo of Man United. He is the product of United’s academy who has shone very bright so far. At only 19 years of age, he is regular member of both United and England national team.

Chelsea were linked with both Mainoo and Garnacho in January. They tried to sign both players but the deals didn’t advance any further. This forced both these players to stay at Old Trafford. However, they are still linked with exit in summer.

Chelsea received massive boost in pursuit of Mainoo

Man United fans adore Mainoo but may soon be forced to wave good-bye to him. This is due to the current financial situation at United. According to The Sun, United’s co-owner Jim Ratcliffe is set to get tough about finances.

There will be major changes in the player’s contract. United will adapt a performance-based contract system. This will affect the wage structures for new players and the ones involved in new contract talks like Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo currently earns £20,000 per week but is demanding a lot more. His representatives want a salary of around £150,000 per week due to the player being regular member of England national team. In addition, they want £30,000 more incase United qualify for UCL later.

This can make it very hard for the Red Devils to agree a new deal with Mainoo. Hence, the player can be made available in market which will also help the club in terms of PSR. Earlier, it was reported that United will demand £70 million for Mainoo.

Chelsea are looking to add another midfielder to their squad this summer. They are concerned with the fitness issues of Romeo Lavia. In addition, Real Madrid are lurking around Enzo Fernandez. Mainoo can be a good replacement for any of them and can even be looked upon as long-term investment.
