Chelsea are closing in on the deal to sign 19 year old midfielder. The youngster is from French and currently impressing in Ligue 1.

Chelsea on the verge of signing young French midfielder
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues are very close to sign Mathis Amougou. The deal is in final stages and the West London club will pay around €15 million to St Etienne. The final details are being talked right now.
Mathis Amougou is 19 years old and has came up through St Etienne’s academy. He made his debut for the first team last season where he played 2 games. This season he has levelled up and played 17 games so far. In addition, he has started 9 of them.
Amougou has played in various youth stages for French national team. He mainly plays as central midfielder but can even play effectively as attacking midfielder. He can be a decent replacement for Joao Felix who just agreed to join AC Milan. It will be interesting to see if Maresca brings Amougou directly in first team or forces him to play in youth setup first.
