Chelsea complete signing of 24 yo defender for ‘world record fee’

Chelsea have completed the signing of 24 year old recently. They have broken the world record by paying the transfer fee.

The Blues have secured the services of Naomi Girma. Girma is 2000 born defender who played for San Diego Wave FC. She played 72 games for them and was first choice centre back since past 3 seasons. She has played 44 games so far for USA national team as well.

Chelsea have broken the world record by paying £900,000 to San Diego. The previous record was held by Bay FC when they paid £685,000 for Racheal Kundananji last February. Whereas, Chelsea’s previous club record was £384,000 while signing Mayra Ramirez which was also a British-record fee.

Naomi Girma excited after joining Chelsea

Girma was looking very excited while joining the Blues. She was looking confident and had some really good words about the West London club. Chelsea on their official site stated that she will bring a wealth of top level experience to their side.

“I’m so happy and really excited to be here. It doesn’t feel real. There are lot of things about Chelsea that made me want to come here – the culture, the winning mentality, the staff and the players. It’s a top environment to learn and grow in. Right now, that’s what I’m looking to do. It was an easy choice for me” – Naomi Girma after joining the Blues.

Girma will wear number 14 for the Blues. Chelsea head of women’s football Paul Green also had some great words about their new signing. He seems to have a lot if faith in the 24 year old defender.

“Naomi is a world-class defender who is now coming into the prime years of her career” – Paul Green about Naomi joining Chelsea.

Green had some more words showcasing the defender’s qualities. He praised Naomi very much before saying that they are delighted with the defender joining them.
