Chelsea had another great transfer window. They made 13 new signings and also parted ways with many of the exisiting stars. The Blues were able to send Raheem Sterling on loan to Arsenal. However, Chelsea were unable to sell Ben Chilwell. The Blues are desperate to sell Chilwell who is one of the highest paid players currently at the club.
The Blues have not been at their best in the Premier League. They have only been able to win 1 out of the 3 matches played. Chelsea fans are disappointed as they expected a lot after the amount spent by the club in transfer market. On the other hand, the club is constantly on the verge to breach the PSR rules. Ben Chilwell was expected to leave this summer. However, he has not been able to find a new club due to injury.
Chelsea keen to sell Chilwell
Chelsea are keen to sell the 27 year old full back. Ben Chilwell joined The Blues in 2020 from Leicester City. He played an important role as left back to guide Chelsea to the Champions League title in his first season. However, he has not been able to keep up that form due to consistent injuries. Chilwell has only been able to start 30 times in the league since the start of 2021/22 season.
In addition, he is not the first choice left back anymore. Enzo Maresca prefers Marc Cucurella and Renato Viega above Chilwell. This makes Chilwell third choice left back. However, Chilwell is one of the highest earning players in the current Chelsea squad. He earns £200,000 per week which is more than Cole Palmer who is considered the best Chelsea player at the moment. Palmer earns £150,000 per week. Salaries according to Capology.
The transfer market in Saudi Arabia and Turkey is still open. However, there is a sense that Chilwell will stay in West London atleast until January. Manchester United were monitoring Chilwell this summer but nothing happened. Chilwell was also linked to Brentford but they signed Jaydon Maghoma instead.
