Chelsea desperate to sign £70 million costing England international

Chelsea are desperately interested to sign one England international this month. The star in question can cost them as high as £70 million. The Blues also have alternative option for him.

The starin question is 24 year old defender Marc Guehi. Guehi started his career with Chelsea before joining Crystal Palace in 2021. Ever since that move, he has progressed continuously.

Guehi is very highly rated and one of the best defenders in England right now. He is Palace captain and also a regular starter for England national team. He played in all Euro 2024 games for England and that’s where top clubs started to monitor him.

Chelsea desperate to sign Marc Guehi this month

The West London club is keen to sign defender this month. According to Simon Phillips, the Blues are having internal talks about signing their former player Marc Guehi who is open for the move. But, Palace are demanding as high as £70 million for their club captain.

Guehi has only 18 months left on his current contract which may help the Blues to sign him on lower fee. In addition, the player can force an away move from Palace for lower price if he is convinced properly by his former club.

As of now, Fofana and Badiashile are both sidelined due to injuries. In addition, Axel Disasi is very heavily linked with exit. Lastly, Renato Veiga who is originally a centre back is on the verge of joining Borussia Dortmund on permanent deal.

Guehi can be an upgrade on most of the current Chelsea defenders. He has proved himself on English soil and is familiar with the West London club. Along with the Blues, Newcastle United are also showing interest in the 24 year old.

Chelsea also have an alternative plan if their deal for Guehi fails this month. They can recall Trevoh Chalobah who is on loan at Crystal Palace too. They can also include him as a part of swap deal while signing Marc Guehi.
