Chelsea Enter the Race for Gianluigi Donnarumma

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been under the radar of Chelsea as per an Ex-WHU employee. They are the same source that rumored Mendy’s arrival to the London club.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has been in brilliant form with his current club, AC Milan.

However, his contract expires on June 30, 2021, and would be available as a free agent. Let’s have a glimpse of his career so far with the Rossoneri.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Career, Statistics and Performances

The Italian professional began his football career by joining in the Academy of ASD Club Napoli aged four in 2003.

However, Milan signed him in 2013. He was in the guidance and company of his elder brother Antonio Donnarumma who was also playing there.

In the 2015-16 season, he was included as a third goalkeeper for the senior team. Although, his first memorable match was the TIM trophy final against Sassuolo, where he saved two penalties for Milan.

At the age of 16 years and 242 days, Donnarumma became the second-youngest goalkeeper in the history of football. He helped the Italian club win 2-1 after three winless matches.

He helped Milan win the Supercoppa Italiana final in a 4-3 shootout over Juventus.

Currently, AC Milan is challenging every other team from Serie A and is first in the rankings.

To stay or to leave amid the Club Interests?

Donnarumma has attracted many top clubs like Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus. Mino Raiola, the current agent of his, would be keen on seeing Donnarumma playing for some big clubs.

Chelsea recently signed Senegalese goalie Edouard Mendy from Lillie. However, he is currently making some rare errors.

However, the Pensioners would be keen on making him their new signing as this is a free transfer.

The Blues would be working on bringing some youth and experience in the form of Donnarumma.

As the January transfer window is going to open, Frank Lampard would be keen on spending more money to buy some wonderful players.

However, Erling Haaland and David Alaba are the big names rumoured to be playing for the FA cup runners-up.

Chelsea plays Manchester City in Sunday night football in the Premier League. However, the club won’t be hesitating to buy some new talented players after spending around €220 million.
