Chelsea join Man United in the race to sign Geovany Quenda
As per CaughtOffside, the Blues have joined the Red Devils in the race to sign 17 year old Portugese prodigy. Along with these two clubs, many other top European clubs are also keen to sign Quenda.
United will like to add some of the Sporting’s stars that played key part in Sporting’s recent success under Amorim. Quenda is one of those and the Red Devils have already prepared a bid of around €70 million for him.
On the other hand, Chelsea are always looking to sign young talents across whole Europe. Quenda definately fits in their hiring structure and hence the Blues will not be shy to splash a big amount for him.
Sporting have a €100 million release clause inserted in Quenda’s current contract. The 17 year old is tied with a contract running until 2027 and hence Sporting will demand any interested party to pay the full release clause.
Lastly, Sporting do not plan to sell their key players very soon but they will have to change their mind if the players force a move out of the club. This will not eliminate the January move but realistically it is very less likely that Quenda switches teams mid-season.
