Chelsea eye Benfica duo; other Premier League giants also keen

Benfica have paved path of many big names to the Premier League. The Portugese giants now are in risk of losing two more players to Chelsea. But, they will surely part ways if their demands are fulfilled. Along with Chelsea, some other big English clubs are also interested in Benfica products.

Chelsea are keen to improve their defence next year. They have already began their preparations are are monitoring potential future stars. The Blues have adapted a policy of recruiting young players and handing them a long term contract. Two Benfica players fit in this system and hence are linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea keeping tabs on two Benfica defenders

According to Caught Offside, The Blues are interested to sign Antonio Silva and Tomas Araujo. Both the players are very young and surely have a very bright future. The Blues may need to spend big if they want to sign the defenders as Benfica will demand a hefty fee.

Tomas Araujo is 22 years old and plays mainly as centre back. But, he can adapt and play as a right back too which could benefit Chelsea a lot. Reece James has been injury prone and hence The Blues may get a proper backup from Araujo.

On the other hand, Antonio Silva has developed into one of the best youngsters in Europe. He is only 20 years old and is already rated at €40 million by Transfermarkt. Along with Chelsea, their Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen to sign Silva.

Man United have already spent big on Leny Yoro and Matthijs De Light this summer. They also have Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at their camp. On the other hand, Liverpool are looking for a potential replacement of Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk is 33 years old and will surely need a replacement soon.

Silva will also have his say and then decide which club fits his demands. He will demand regular gametime and hope to get better with time. One thing is for sure that Benfica will bag a huge profit on the sale of both Araujo and Silva.
