Chelsea have confirmed that their star defender Wesley Fofana has suffered a knee injury last weekend against the Gunners at the Stamford Bridge. And he is not going to travel with France for national duties this week. According to the reports of Football.London, the Frenchman got a swelled knee and will undergo tests at London.
It can be concerning for Maresca as Fofana is finding his touch back after missing the whole of last season. However, 2 weeks will be enough time to treat that kind of a problem. The Blues doesn’t want to take any risks and that is why Fofana withdrew his name from the national squad. As they want fresh and energetic legs after the restart of club games later this month.
After the 1-1 draw against Arsenal last weekend Fofana seemed to be delighted with his own performance. While speaking to Chelsea’s official website he said,
“I think this was my best performance. Against Arsenal as well, a London derby, I’m very happy. I gave everything on the pitch, I give everything for the club. I need to continue like this.”
What’s ahead of Chelsea
As of now the Blues are at the 3rd position with 19 points on their name similar to Arsenal. After the International break, Chelsea will face the Foxes which is the former club of both Wesley Fofana and Enzo Maresca. It will be a important game for them as they will be looking forward close in with Man City, who are at the 2nd spot leading by 4 points ahead of them.
Before the end of December Chelsea will be playing a total 11 games across all competitions. And every game in the premier League is vital for them at this stage. So, a tough month is coming ahead towards them where Maresca and his men will need to give their best in order to win some vital points.
