Chelsea have been handed an important boost to sign their former star. Liverpool and Newcastle United are also keen to sign the player but can be restricted in doing so.
The star in question is Marc Guehi who has been the academy product of Chelsea. He joined Crystal Palace in 2021 and is now one of the best defenders in England right now.
Guehi is captain of Palace and also a regular member of England national team. He played in all of the games for his country in Euro 2024. He has interest from top clubs in England right now.
Guehi will be out of current contract in 2026 and Palace are ready to cash in on him this month. They are prepared to listen to the offers for him. As of now, Liverpool and Newcastle are keen to sign him along with the Blues.

According to GiveMeSport, the Blues have advantage in the race over their rivals in the race to sign Guehi. It is because both the Reds and the Magpies are not ready to spend big on the defender.
The West London club have shown no hesitation to spend big since their takeover. They might do the same again as improving defence is their top priority. Along with Guehi, they do have some other targets.
Lastly, Chelsea need to be carefull while spending as they have been on the verge of breaching PSR in the past. Hence, it seems they will first part ways with some defenders before bring new one in.
As of now, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana are the most safe defenders. But, their is no certainty about anyone else and they have already been linked with away moves. Hopefully, we will get some clarity very soon as the transfer window is already open.
