The Blues are set to take on Southampton tonight. They are keen to put an end to their poor form. As of now, they are on 7th position in Premier League. They have 12 games in hand to turn things around and qualify for the Champions League.
Enzo Maresca has done a decent job in his first season as Chelsea manager. He has been able to improve the current squad. But, the Italian has also been hit by bad luck due to injuries. However, the recent poor form will not affect his future at West London.
Chelsea handed major injury boost ahead of Southampton clash
Amidst this tough phase, the Blues have been handed a major boost. They are set to welcome one of their important star back to pitch. Fabrice Hawkins has reported that Wesley Fofana is back in squad to face Southampton.
Fofana joined the Blues in 2022 but was able to play only 20 games in his first season. His second season was even worse as he missed the whole season due to injury. His third season (current), was looking very good and the club and fans had big expectations from Fofana.
Fofana started the season in strong manner and was given the role of regular starter by Maresca. He formed a good partnership with Levi Colwill. But, after playing just 12 games the Frenchman suffered an injury once again.
Fofana played his last game on 1st December 2024. He has not been able to play ever since and this has clearly affected Chelsea. Theh have been weak in the back and dropped multiple points. Now, Enzo Maresca will feel good again as his preferred defender is back.
