Chelsea have no release clause in the contracts of their current players even if they fail to secure the Champions League spot this season. This will make their position strong in holding on their top talents.

The Blues started this season with a new manager. They lost the first game but bounced back very strongly. Enzo Maresca did a very good job and kept them in the top four for the most of the season. But, recently the situation has not been so good.

Chelsea were once being viewed as title challengers. But, now they find themselves on the 6th position in Premier League. Their form had dipped in the recent months and as a result, they have dropped points on multiple occasions.

Chelsea may struggle once again to qualify for Champions League. If this happens, many players express interest in leaving the club. But, the Blues are in strong position to keep their valuable assets. Ben Jacobs has reported that no player in the current squad has release clause in contract which will allow them to leave after failing to qualify for UCL.

Jacobs also mentioned the name of Cole Palmer who recently was seen getting frustrated. Enzo Maresca will be keen to keep his most important current stars next season. In addition, he will like to introduce some new faces in order to win the silverware.

What exactly Chelsea are lacking right now?

As of now, Chelsea seem to lack experience. They have a squad full of young players which is a good thing but can also cost you sometimes. Young players often make mistakes in the pressure situation. Hence, the Blues need to add more experience and leadership to their squad in summer. It will be interesting to see if they change their policy of hiring young players only.
