Chelsea have opted against signing any new player right now. They have taken this decision despite recently being hit hard by the injuries to their current stars. This could generate mixed outcome in the crucial time of the season.
The Blues started this season with a great spark under new boss Enzo Maresca. They had a very hight squad depth which was later decreased by some bold decisions taken by Maresca. Chelsea looked a lot improved than last season and are still playin really well.
The Blues are sitting on 4th position in Premier League whereas they topped the table in Conference League. But, they have also dropped points on multiple occasions. In addition, they have been hit by injuries some time which caused slight problems.
As of now, the Blues are missing both of their proper striker. Earlier Marc Guiu suffered injury whereas Nicolas Jackson has also suffered an injury right now. They will both miss out on the crucial period of the season which might cause problems to Maresca.
Chelsea unwilling to bring new face right now
The January transfer window is already over so the Blues can’t sign a new striker. But, they can still sign some players that have not been tied with any contract – free agents. But, it seems like the West London club is unwilling to take that route.
Fabrizio Romano has quoted the response of Enzo Maresca where he said that they will not sign any striker right now. The Italian coach is happy with his current options. Maresca was also asked why he did not sign a striker in January. To this the Italian replied that at that time no one would have known that both of their striker will be injured at the same time.
Maresca has used Christopher Nkunku as number nine in most of his games. Hence, the 27 year old can be very likely given that role once again. Lastly, we can expect a new striker coming in once the summer transfer window opens.
