The summer transfer window is in its full swing. Every club is determined to make the best out of it and improve their squad quality. One team that is doing multiple deals is Chelsea. Not to anyone’s surprise, Chelsea under the ownership of Todd Boehly are spending again in the transfer window.
Ever since Boehly took over the ownership of Chelsea football club, there have been heavy amount of investments put in the club. In just 2 years of the takeover, Boehly has invested over £1bn in the club. Although even after these heavy investments, the situation of the club’s seems to get worse only.
There have been 4 managerial changes under Todd’s reign and the club is now in dire need of stability. Even though the club has bought numerous players in the past 2 years, their seems to be the lack of quality and team coordination in the Chelsea squad.
Chelsea under Todd Boehly
Last season, Chelsea had a very bad start as they spend most of the time sitting below the 10th position in the league table. However, Pochettino figured out all the things in the end as Chelsea finished 6th in the league. They will be playing in the Conference league next season and the team was finally playing as a unit together.
However, Chelsea board decided that it was time to part ways with the Argentine manager and appointed Enzo Maresca as the new manager. Under his guidance, Chelsea have already made some signings to improve their squad.
They have already signed 5 players in the window and may plan on adding some more. However the latest update is regarding the departure of a player. According to the recent reports, Malang Sarr is ready to continue his career elsewhere.
Malang Sarr is ready to move on in his career
Malang Sarr joined Chelsea in 2020 from OFC Nice. However, ever since that transfer, the Frenchman failed to secured his spot in the squad. He has been sent out on loan to different clubs during his time at Chelsea. With only 21 appearances overall for the Blues, the future at the london club doesn’t look good for Sarr.
According to Foot Mercato which is a reliable French source, Malang Sarr will join Lens as the agreement has been reached. Furthermore, a medical would be conducted in the next few days and the signing will be official then.
Hardly any Chelsea fan can remember the last time Malang Sarr was spotted in the training pictures. The idea of him playing the match is too far fetched of anyone’s expectations. This transfer is ideal for every single party involved.
The deal for the player has been agreed between the clubs. After the medical, Sarr will sign a contract until 2026. This deal is very ideal for Chelsea as they can finally let go of a player on their wages book.
Sarr will now also have an opportunity to get some playing time and showcase his potential. Even though the major concern for the lack of game time for Sarr was injuries, there may be some other inside story too.
Looking ahead for Chelsea
Wasting a player’s career in the squad and paying wages for him when he isn’t going to play seems a very idiotic thing for any club to do. Also Chelsea’s depth can be a issue for the team. Every club needs a good squad depth but it should be in the appropriate amount. Having more than what’s required is never good for any team.
Chelsea have to sort out their squad capacity and have to move towards becoming one of the competitive team again. Chelsea board also needs to give Maresca the required time to make some progress with the squad. Expecting success in a short time with a young squad like this will never work. Patience is the only solution for the Chelsea board.
