The Blues travel to the south coast, to Bournemouth in the Premier League season. Here are the latest Chelsea injury news.
Enzo Maresca and co have not had a really good start to the season and are looking to turn things around against Bournemouth on Saturday. They have accumulated just four points from the opening three matches and sit 11th on the table. Considering the quality options they have in their team should have done well. In a sarcastic way Chelsea and injury have a special love story in the past few years. Long term injuries have ruined their seasons in the past. This season also they have picked up some injuries at the very begining of the season. Let’s have look at some of the injury news and return dates ahead of Chelsea’s trip to the Vitality stadium.
CHELSEA AND INJURIES
Like we said earlier Chelsea have been very unlucky with injuries in the past few seasons. Despite spending big in the last couple of transfer windows it has hardly been reflected in their performances. This is partly due to the injuries that Chelsea players have went through. Last season Christopher Nkunku arrived at Stamford Bridge with huge expectations and was deemed a replacement to long lost Eden Hazard. But it hasn’r panned out well for the 26 year old. The French man got injured in the pre-season and missed out on the majority of his debut season. Pochettino couldn’t even utilize him properly as he was out for significant period of time. The same happened with Romeo Lavia. He made a big move to west london from Southampton for a reported fee of €62.1 million snubbing Liverpool. But again he was injured even before making his debut.
Nkunku and Lavia are like new signings for Chelsea this season. Reece James was out for some time during the previous season, Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto and the list goes on. These players have suffered long injuries since arriving at Chelsea. We don’t who are at blame for that, the medical staff who are inneficcient, the recruitment team who closed their eyes against the players’ injury record or the almighty who put Chelsea in this situation. Anyway a new season has began with new coach, new signings and new team at the back of the room. But Chelsea are against facing some real injury concerns at the begining of the season. Despite making overload of signings it is surprising to see them struggle with injuries.
