Chelsea join pursuit of highly rated Nigerian defender

  • Chelsea have joined race to sign Vince Osuji
  • Osuji is 18 year old and plays for Sweedish club Kalmar FF
  • He is highly rated and looked upon by many top European clubs

Chelsea have felt a need to improve their defence this season. They are doing really well and are sitting on the third position in Premier League. But, the results could have been even better if there defence was slightly better.

The Blues have failed regularly to keep clean sheets. Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill are regular starters and are doing well. But, the club still lacks leadership at the back.

Along with an experienced player, Chelsea are also keen to sign young defenders. Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile have failed to impress and hence are likely to exit in near future. This will open up space for new players.

Chelsea join the race for Vince Osuji

As per Voetbal Nieuws, the Blues are keeping tabs on Vince Osuji. Osuji is Nigerian defender and currently plays for Sweedish club Kalmar FF. He is only 18 years old but is already a regular starter for the club.

The Blues are known to sign young players in the recent years. Osuji fits perfectly into that system. With proper guidance at the highest level, Osuji can eventually become a world class star.

Osuji will surely be open to move to Chelsea as it will be a major step up in his career. In addition, Kalmar may get relegated this season which may accelerate the player’s move away from the club.

The Blues can easily manage to pay the demanded price for Osuji by Kalmar. But they will surely receive a lot of competition as the 18 year old is on wishlist of many top European clubs. No matter which club Osuji joins, he surely has a very bright future ahead of him.
