Chelsea joined by 3 others in race for £85 million striker

Chelsea are keen to sign a new striker this summer and have been linked with multiple names. One of their target can cost £85 million and is looked upon by 3 other clubs. One of those three clubs is from England itself whereas 2 others are from Spain.

Enzo Maresca wants the West London club to sign another striker. He is likely to be backed by the board. The Blues are already linked with multiple names across whole Europe. One of them is Greece striker who is currently impressing at Portugal.

The star in question is Vangelis Pavlidis who plays for Benfica. He is 26 years old and represents Greece on international level. He joined Benfica in summer 2024 and has since been unstoppable. Pavlidis has scored 24 goals and picked 9 assists in 46 games this season.

Chelsea face heavy competition for Pavlidis

According to RECORD via Sport Witness, Pavlidis also has interest from Newcastle United, Barcelona and Atletico. He has a £85 million release clause in his current contract. Benfica want it to be paid fully but the report states that Premier League clubs are unwilling to trigger it.

Newcastle can make a move for Pavlidis if their current striker – Alexander Isak leaves the club. The Sweden international is one of the best strikers in the world right now. The Magpies are doing all in their power to keep hold of him.

On the other hand, Barca are looking to replace Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international has been superb this season but is heading to the end of his career. Hence, the Spanish giants want to find a perfect replacement for him in the coming summer window.

Lastly, Atletico are keen to sign another striker to play alongside Julian Alvarez. It is the part of Simone’s plans as per his tactics. In addition, Griezmann is set to leave the club this summer and is linked with a move to America.
