Chelsea keeping close tabs on 19 year old Portugese talent

Chelsea are keeping close tabs on 19 year old Portugese star. The player was on their radar for January transfer market but the deal never materialized. A summer move is very likely on the table with the Blues keen to sign him.

The player in question here is Darrio Essugo of Sporting CP. He is currently on loan at Las Palmas and is having a great season in La Liga. He has so far played 14 games for Palmas and registered a goal too. Essugo is only 19 years old and can play as both central and holding midfielder.

Chelsea were in need of midfielder this window and were monitoring options in the market. They had Essugo on their radar but the deal failed to reach further stages. The 19 year old will complete this season at Spain with Las Palmas.

Chelsea retain their interest in Darrio Essugo

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues are keeping close tabs on Essugo. The 19 year old is considered as an interesting player at the West London club. This suggests that they will very likely enter the market to sign Essugo again this summer.

If Chelsea do sign Essugo, it will be interesting to see what the club plans for him. The 19 year old can directly get into first team or can be sent on loan for some time. The Blues have done that with many young stars recently. They send the youngsters to France to play for their sister club Strasbourg.

If Chelsea do keep Essugo with the first team they will do so if their other stars leave. As of now, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wants to leave the club in summer in order to play regularly. Casadei has already left whereas Chukwuemeka is on loan but will also be sold in summer.
